CBCMV'S WoW (Women of Worth) Garden Party 2008

This past weekend was CBCMV'S WoW Garden Party Retreat @ Ponderosa Pines in Thousand Pines. This was the 1st year I was able to attend since going to CBCMV. What a blast!! God's hand could be seen on this event before it even took place. One of the ladies on the WoW board received a call the week before the retreat, letting her know that our guest speaker had broken her arm and was not going to be able to speak at our event. The women on the board prayed and prayed about possibly getting another speaker. God's plan was a little different, he wanted the women of the board to speak. We were blessed to hear testimonies from many women in our church body. This was such an awesome way to learn about the Lord's doing in other's lives :)
Our theme verse was......
The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Isaiah 58:11
OUR CABIN.......I roomed with Kathy, Jeri, Julie, Alison, and Deborah
The first night we hung out in the main lodge and played Rummikub. This was too funny......Jeri & I had to have the instructions given to us numerous times by Kathy & Julie :)
Kathy
Julie
Jeri finally thought she understood the game......I think not!!
She had us laughing so hard at this point.

Playing The Game: Players must place sets valued at least 30 points (add up the set numbers) onto the table in the first move. This move is called the "initial meld." If unable to do an initial meld a tile must be taken from the pool and this concludes the player's turn.

Then, we woke up Saturday morning at 6:30 a.m. to go for a hike and enjoy the Lord's creation (great idea Kathy!). After the hike we went back to our room and got ready for our 8:45 a.m. breakfast.
After quiet time we had an afternoon session. It was my mother-in-law's turn to speak to all the women at the retreat. She gave her testimony which was never given before this.
GOOD JOB PAM!!! YOU DID AN AWESOME JOB :) After the afternoon session & lunch we got about 5 hours of free time. Everyone in our room decided we needed naps after the late night. Kathy & I took out one of the mattresses from our room and laid it outside for our nap. It was absolutely beautiful!
Time for our hat contest......This is Alison sporting her football hat

As many of you know I usually plan everything at the last minute. One of the things we needed to do was bring a decorated hat for a hat contest. Of course, I ran out of time, so my mom and the women in her cabin decided to make me a hat at the last minute. It was a hat made out of a basket we were given :) Thanks mom!
Julie's ANGEL's hat
Jeri's flower hat........each flower was a pen she made and gave to everyone

One our way home..........

This may not be funny to many of you but I still had to share......
On our way up the mountain Friday night with my mom and sister, my mom started telling us a funny story. As most of you know, my mom has a very heavy accent :) She was telling us about the voice recognition on her cell phone.......she would say 8 and the voice recognition would say, did you say H? My mom has had many incidences with automated systems and voice recognitions that gets her very frustrated, this is because of her heavy accent. So, on our way home I happened to see this sign and had to take a picture and share :)
